E. Jean Carroll, who won her 2023 lawsuit against Donald Trump for sexual abuse and defamation, says Trump’s own behavior in court helped seal his defeat — including his odor. Speaking on The Daily Beast Podcast, Carroll described the former president as “a fat, elderly man who wears apricot makeup, his hair done up like Tippi Hedren in The Birds…and he moans and groans and complains and snorts.”
Carroll said Trump was visibly restless during the trial. The jury was mesmerized. “He never sat still, and he talked the entire time within earshot of the jury. He belittled Alina Habba, his own attorney. He would spit as he was talking. He didn’t smell so good.” During closing arguments, Carroll said Trump “stood up with steam coming off his back and hot air blowing out his ears” as her attorney, out lawyer Roberta Kaplan, asked the jury how much it would take to make him stop. Carroll said, “When a man is innocent, he doesn’t storm out of a courtroom…he lost right at that second.”
